Child Protection Policy
At My Dream Australian Academy (MDAA), we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing
environment where every child feels protected, valued, and supported.
This parent-friendly Child Protection Policy explains how we safeguard students and how
families can work with us to keep all children safe.
1. Our Commitment to Child Safety
We follow NSW child protection laws and ensure all staff, volunteers, and contractors
understand and meet their responsibilities.
2. What Is Child Protection?
Child protection involves preventing, identifying, and responding to concerns about a
child’s safety, wellbeing, or welfare.
3. Types of Child Abuse
MDAA protects children from neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and emotional harm.
4. Child Wellbeing Concerns
Staff report early signs such as distress, anxiety, or behaviour change to ensure students
receive support.
5. Staff Responsibilities
All staff must report concerns to the Principal, complete annual child protection training,
and maintain professional boundaries.
6. Staff Training
All staff participate in yearly child protection training, with additional training provided
when laws or requirements change.
7. Working With Children Checks (WWCC)
All staff and volunteers must hold a valid WWCC and notify the school of any status changes.
8. Reporting Staff Misconduct
Parents can report any inappropriate or concerning behaviour directly to the Principal by
phone, in person, or in writing.
9. How MDAA Handles Allegations
Every allegation is investigated through a fair, confidential process aligned with legal
requirements.
10. 2025 Policy Updates
New measures include stronger recruitment checks, annual competency tests, digital safety
protocols, and regular audits.
11. Working Together
Child safety is a shared responsibility among staff, parents, students, and the community.
