Behaviour Management Policy
At My Dream Australian Academy (MDAA), we are committed to maintaining a safe,
respectful, and positive learning environment. Our Behaviour Management Policy helps
students understand expectations, learn from mistakes, and grow academically and socially.

2. Encouraging Positive Behaviour
We recognise students for kindness, effort, participation, leadership, and positive choices
through praise, points in Compass, class rewards, and acknowledgement at assemblies.
3. Behaviour Expectations Across the School
Students are expected to follow instructions, act safely, respect others, care for property,
participate in learning, be prepared, and follow routines in classrooms, playgrounds,
walkways, toilets, computer areas, and during arrival/dismissal times.
4. Minor Behaviours (Teacher-Managed)
Examples: excessive talking, calling out, lateness, rough play, teasing, misuse of devices, not
bringing equipment, not completing homework.
Teacher responses may include redirection, reminders, private conversations, and logical
consequences.
If a student receives -5 points on Compass, the Principal meets with them and parents are
notified for after-school detention.
5. Major Behaviours (Serious Concerns)
Examples: physical violence, threats, bullying, harassment, possession of weapons, illegal
substances, serious misuse of technology, offensive language directed at staff or students.
Consequences may include referral to the Principal, parent meetings, behaviour contracts,
after-school detention, or suspension depending on severity.
6. Supporting Students
Teachers follow a supportive script: ask what the student is doing, explain expectations,
outline consequences, and give an opportunity to correct behaviour.
7. Keeping Everyone Safe
The Principal manages situations that present significant risk to safety or repeated
behaviour concerns.
8. Working in Partnership
Parents are encouraged to reinforce school expectations at home and communicate with
teachers if concerns arise.
